The Track and Trail Connection

The Track and Train Connection offers you the chance to view the spectacular scenery of Central Otago with its bizarre schist rock tors, desert landscapes, orchards, vineyards, blue lakes, high mounains and wild river gorges.

Taieri Gorge Railway can take you from Dunedin to Queenstown, or vice-versa, on a special train'n'coach tour.

Experience the wonderful variety of views that only Central Otago offers, and enjoy a full commentary on both train and coach.

Your coach can link with our scheduled Taieri Gorge Limited train or for larger groups we can arrange a morning train service (departing Dunedin at 9.30 am)

The normal running time for a coach from Pukerangi to Queenstown is 4 hours but this can be varied to suit your groups needs.

A daily coach from Queenstown connects with The Taieri Gorge Limited train via the Maniototo and Strath Taieri Plains.

From the 1st October, the summer timetable will run until 30th of April. Now departing Dunedin at 9.30am by train and arriving in Queenstown at 5pm or Wanaka at 6.30pm Alternatively Departing Wanaka at 6am or Queenstown at 7am and arriving in Dunedin at 1.30pm

This will be a daily morning service in Summer with just 11 days that it will run in the afternoon. These days on the TGR timetable are shown in red.

Travelling through parts of Central Otago that are off the main highway, this tour offers a trip that is both scenic and interesting. The trip from Dunedin will have a lunch break stop in the historic town of St Bathans.
