We travelled on the Taieri Gorge Railway on the 2nd of April 2011. We had an amazing time. We travelled with 4 young children and they loved it. The scenery was incredible, the train gorgeous and Joe the conductor was so lovely. We can’t wait till we can come back and go again.

On 20 February this year we had an amazing day on the Taieri Gorge Railway. We boarded the train alongside the Arcadia, with the ship's Purser and many of the crew waving us off. The views all along the gorge were stunning and the vast panorama at Pukerangi will always stay in our memories. Our hosts were so friendly and attentive, we learned so much from talking to them and they really helped to make the journey one of the magic moments of our world cruise.

I had a wonderful time travelling on your train on Friday 25/9/09 during a recent trip to New Zealand. The service was very good, the scenery was spectacular and the whole travel experience was great fun which I have since recommended to many others. An excellent way to see a small, but fascinating, part of the south island.

Our trip on the Taieri Gorge Railway was fabulous! I have recommended it to everyone we know going later to NZ. People in the station were very friendly, as were the staff on the train--even though it was new years day! Very informative, one of the highlights of our vacation.

My family and I had the pleasure of using your railway and bus service to Queenstown a few weeks back. I have been meaning to contact
you to say a warm thank you to the staff for their friendly treatment
of
us. We left a bag of souveniers on board. The bus driver could not
have
been more helpful, he was a lovely person who kept in contact with his
base and made sure the train staff knew about our predicament. Also
the
train staff made sure we had the bags delivered at Queenstown the next
day. Please pass on this thank you - we were so happy to get our bags
back, and the trip was awesome, the staff made it fun and were
extremely
helpful, right from the man who got our bags on board to the staff on
the train. Thank you for everything. I would highly, highly reccommend
your service to anyone and everyone. I tell everyone back here in
Sydney
how wonderful you guys are.

I hope it is not too late to express our sincere thanks
to you and all your staff and colleagues. Your recommendation
of this trip was absolutely excellent. I definitely will
recommend to my overseas friends to take this train when
they come over to visit me in Christchurch. Your staff and
colleagues are very professional and friendly. The food and
drink are so nice and are of a good quality to supply to
the passengers. I can tell you that everyone I met on the
train were very satisfied with this journey. To be very honest,
I wouldn't have even known New Zealand had all these beautiful
places if I had not taken this train. It is a very good value,
relaxing and lovely scenery journey, beautiful gorge, valleys,
tunnels, bridges and some unexpected beautiful places. Julia,
kids and myself enjoyed it very much especially little Thomas
who kept telling us 'yellow train' and was very excited.
We will definitely come again hopefully with some friends
to join us. Once again, many thanks for your kind assistance
and hospitality. All the very best wishes and regards to
you and all your staff and colleagues.
From Julia, little
Nicole+Thomas and Louis.

We took the trip in March of 2006 and just loved every minute
of it. The couple in charge of our car were superb, both
in knowledge and charm!! We were on the Diamond Princess
cruising from Auckland to Sydney.

Hi there
I just wanted to send a quick note to say thanks.
We travelled on the TGR on Good Friday to begin the Rail

we received - both at the station and on the train. It was
a great start to our wonderful holiday - thank you.

To everyone concerned with the railway,
My husband and I took the trip on Monday 13th Feb, 2006,
and departed Dunedin on the 9.30am train. We were extremely
impressed with the level of service which we received throughout
our entire contact with the Taieri Gorge Railway. I had notified
the railway in advance that we were taking the trip, as we
were travelling with fully loaded bicycles. My emails were
kept on file and were quickly retrieved that morning by the
person at the ticket window. Bikes plus luggage were handled
swiftly and with care by staff. The journey was extremely
scenic, enjoyable and informative. The commentary was great,
as was the opportunity to take photos and to get off the
train and stretch the legs. Our Taieri Gorge bear, who continued
on with us is happy to report a successful journey of the
Otago railtrail, up to Queenstown, TeAnau, Stewart island
and the Catlins. He had to peddle daily and is now in retirement
in sunny Sydney. We, along with our bear, have been telling
both cycling and non-cycling friends alike back here in Australia
that the trip on the railway is not to be missed and was
indeed one of our highlights during our 2 week period in
the south of the south island!
Thanks very much! (Maria, Alan and bear).

We were fortunate enough to ride on your railway on the
25th January this year. I mentioned at the office that we
helped on the West Somerset Railway in England. By the time
we were seated on the train, the train crew were aware that
we were on board and there were two Allan's on board. They
could not have been more helpful. The whole crew were a credit
to your railway and your railway is a credit to New Zealand.
Thank you for a wonderful experience. We shall certainly
visit you again.

I would just like to say a huge thankyou
to all of you involved with the Gorge Railway.
My parents and family enjoyed themselves so much and especially
loved all the special touches like the 40th wedding announcement
and the great running commentary throughout the journey.
It was really appreciated how the staff dealt with all of
the children on board too. The railway and staff are just
fantastic and we will certainly be recommending this trip
to anyone we meet!
Thanks again for making such a special day even more special.

Hello!
My name is Kerrie Gough and I travelled on TGR on a vissit
to NZ on 26th May 2005. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire journey
from start to finish.
It was wonderful to be able to get up into the mountains
and see how majestic the NZ countryside truly is. I purchased
the souvenir DVD which was well worth it's money.
In summary, thank you for operating such an enjoyable attraction
in Dunedin, which is a city that I enjoyed visiting so much
that one day I plan to return for another visit or even to
work and live. Your updated website is fantastic, keep up
the good work all round.
....
Thanks, we had a lovely trip on a splendid day.
Bob Williams' commentary was excellent.
Christopher.
